The Outlaw's Secret

Lawman in Disguise

Getting taken hostage by a gang of train robbers wasn't in dime novelist Essie Vanderfair's plans, but interviewing these men could make her career soar. Especially since the gang includes legendary outlaw Tex Beckett, better known as the Texas Titan. Tex is famed for his protection of women and children, so she'll be fine…right?

Keeping the gang in line was hard enough before a stubborn, beautiful writer interfered. Now Tex is scrambling to keep Essie safe, to gather evidence against the gang and most of all to hide his dangerous secrets. First, that he's a detective working undercover. And second, that he's not the Texas Titan at all, but Tex's twin brother, Tate Beckett.

Essie Vanderfair is a dime novelist who needs a great story to keep up with her competition. She's on a train that gets robbed and comes up with a brilliant plan. She gets taken "hostage" by the train robbers so she can interview them and use that information to write her next book. She manages to succeed and meets the Texas Titan, a legendary outlaw. The Texas Titan is keeping a huge secret, though. He's not the actual Texas Titan, but is his twin brother, Tate, working as an undercover detective to bring the robbers to justice.

This book was entertaining and full of great characters! Essie considered this a great adventure and didn't think of the dangers that might be involved until it was too late. She felt an attraction to Tate but knew she could never get seriously involved with an outlaw. I loved her interviews with the different men and learning more about their back stories and what brought them together. Tate was a good guy trying to act tough. He found himself in some tricky situations and had to fast talk his way out of them. The leader of the robbers, Fletcher, wasn't a nice man and he, Essie and Tate had some conflicts.

Once I started reading this book, I settled in and didn't want to put it down. It moves at a fast pace and there was never a dull moment. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, clean western romance!
