About Take the Bai Road
After the events of Bai Tide, CIA case officer Bai Hsu is safely tucked away at Headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Bored and frustrated, he’s starting to doubt he’ll ever return to the field until he’s given a difficult new assignment: Track and investigate the mysterious Ghost Cartel, who may or may not already have hooks in our government.
With secrecy of the utmost importance, Bai accepts the mission even though he knows he’ll be out in the cold. With no official cover, no backup, and no resources, Bai has no choice but to infiltrate a shadowy organization few know anything about.
Tangled in a conspiracy that will pit him against warring cartels in Mexico, this is Bai’s most impossible mission to date. It will test him, make him question himself and the organization he works for, and ultimately rip away everything that’s ever mattered to him.
I enjoyed the first book in this series so was excited to read more! Six months have passed since the first book and CIA case officer Bai Hsu is bored behind the desk. He's offered a new assignment which is top secret and incredibly dangerous so of course he accepts!
I am definitely not spy material since a nice, safe life is incredibly appealing to me. I'm glad there are people like Bai, though, who are willing to live the dangerous life. Bai is an interesting character to hang out with. He doesn't have any attachments to people so he's in a good line of work. He reads people well and has a good handle on which ones he can trust. He was put in lots of tough situations and it was interesting to see how he handled them.
This book held my attention from the beginning and I loved the pacing of it. I wasn't clear at all on what was happening so I had to keep reading to get the big picture. My only complaint is that there was more language than I personally prefer reading (including a handful of "f" words). I enjoy the author's writing style and that, while the storyline is complex, it doesn't become confusing. If you enjoy thrillers, this is a book and series you will want to read!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! If it makes you feel better, I did struggle with the profanity in this one. It features a lot of very bad people under stress, so I had to straddle the line between the appropriate amount of profanity and a realistic amount. Thank you for your kind review!
