Learn the importance of the words you repeat each week. This inspirational book helps you better understand the Young Women theme by breaking down each section and sharing the story of how and why the theme was created. Discover your divine potential and how important you are in God’s plan! Thought provoking and uplifting, this book offers new insights for parents, leaders, and all young women.

I was interested to read a book about the Young Women theme. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the young women (girls ages 12-18) have an opportunity to repeat a theme each Sunday. When I first started attending young women, the theme would change every year. This theme was introduced before I graduated from high school and has been repeated every Sunday ever since. There have been a couple of additions over the years and the author did a great job explaining why those were added.

The theme itself is: We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will "stand as witnesses of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places" (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue. We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

In this book, the author breaks down each phrase and value, using stories, examples and scriptures to help give more insight into what the theme means. At the end of each chapter, she asks questions and gives space to write down thoughts, impressions and goals. There are also additional references to help with independent study.

I enjoyed reading the author's insights into each of these phrases. I've never thought to break it down myself so I'm glad she did! My daughter will be turning 12 soon and this will be an excellent book for her to read! I feel that I have a better understanding of the theme after reading this book and know that there's much more to learn about it. As we women, whether young or old(er), strive to internalize these values, we will truly understand what it means to be a daughter of Heavenly Father and live and act accordingly. This is a book I will be reading multiple times and will encourage my daughter to continuously read it as well!!
