Kellan McKensie, Princess of Errigal, is set on leaving for another world before being thrust into a plan of God's choosing that includes learning of her past, embracing her future, and finding her forever love.

Among a lost line of beautiful, wise queens and a conquered country still clinging to medieval traditions in today's world, can Kellan be convinced that now is her time to act? Why should she? To the entire country, she doesn't even exist. Ever the reluctant leader, Kellan is pressured to use her incredible God-given abilities to bring back the glory of her homeland. To do so, she must fight her own will, overcome fears, and control her temper. It's a lot to ask of a girl hidden under a cloak her whole life.

The summary for this book was intriguing and I wound up enjoying the overall message of the book, but I also did have some issues with it.

It's heavily narrated so I didn't feel like I got to know the characters very well. That made it hard to cheer for them. I was told whether the character was good or bad so there didn't seem to be any gray areas that made me wonder and come up with my own theories. I liked that the ending was happy but because I didn't get to know the characters well, I didn't feel a connection with what happened. There's some theology that I didn't agree with, either, but that was a small part of the book.

I don't like it when a book drags on and is bogged down with detail, but this is a book that I wish had more detail. There were some experiences that I wanted to learn more about and wish I had been privy to some conversations.

Errigal is set in medieval times and the rest of the world is contemporary, so it was interesting as Kellan went back and forth between the two worlds. The author did a good job in contrasting the two different worlds and I truly did feel like I had completely left Errigal whenever Kellan did. I also enjoyed the overall message. Kellan hid behind a cloak for most of her life and she ran away with a desire to live a different life but was brought back to help her country in its time of need. She learned a lot about herself and found her purpose.

This is a quick read with a good message about prayer and the importance of relying on God. It also shows the difference one person can make when they're willing to step into the role they were born to fill.
