It’s one year later. And everything has changed.
Remember The Second Chance Institute (SCI). Earth’s benevolent non-profit by day, Thera’s totalitarian regime by night. So, what do you do when the author takes her story in a totally different direction than you think she should and the ending isn't what you imagined at all? (Aside from writing your own happy story, lol.) Well, after fuming for a day, I saw a post on daynight's Facebook page requesting to not give away any spoilers and to contact the author if you have issues. So I did. I respectfully let her know my frustrations. She graciously responded and at the end of our "conversation," I felt much better. I understand what happened and am coming to terms with the fact that it's all best for the story and hope that at the end of book 3, I will be happy with how everything turns out.
Like the first book, be prepared for lots of twists and turns. This book is also told from three different perspectives: Kira, Blake and Ethan and alternates between them. It skips around a lot to fill in the blanks from the past year. It's marked really well so you know which time period you're reading about so that part isn't confusing. For me, though, some of the stories didn't sit as well with me learning about them in the past instead of experiencing it in the present.
I won't give away spoilers but will say that, first of all, don't read this until you've read daynight and clean slate complex or you'll be lost. Also, pay attention to the line And everything has changed, because it has. I was actually disgusted halfway through the book because nobody was with the right person and none of them were even likable to me so I expected a train wreck at the end.
However, the storylines are brilliant and Megan Thomason is amazing! The ending isn't what I originally had in mind and I'm still not necessarily happy with it but I'm coming to terms with it. And I'm happy to say that it's far from the train wreck I was originally anticipating. I do think I'm in the minority, so you may have an entirely different opinion of what happens than I do. If you feel the same way I do, feel free to contact me and we'll talk. And any author that gets me to actually contact them (believe it or not, I'm usually too shy to do that) deserves high praise from me. If you like out-of-the-box dystopia which deviates from the "formula," pushes the limits and leaves you breathless, this is the series for you! As for me, I am now anxiously awaiting generate (book 3)!

I'm totally curious now and it sounds like a very good series. However, due to your frustrations, I think I'm going to wait for the whole series to come out before reading them so I can try to avoid that. :) Great review!!
